The 2011 Jaguar XKR Special Edition

It’s hard to imagine ways to improve the sexy, speedy Jaguar XKR, but Jaguar seems to think it can. As proof, it has developed two option packages for the new 2011 XKR: the Black Pack and the Speed Pack. Check both boxes, and you get the 2011 XKR Special Edition. The optional Speed Pack starts with a less-restrictive top-speed governor, raising terminal velocity to 174 mph from 155 (both electronically limited). No changes have been made to the direct-injection engine. Styling changes include a new front splitter, side-sill extensions, a body-color rear diffuser, a taller rear spoiler, and chrome-finished hood nostrils and window trim. Red brake calipers are visible within spokey 20-inch “Kasuga” wheels that bear a strong resemblance to those on the Bentley Continental Speed. Finally, the Speed Pack can only be ordered on cars rendered in Ultimate Black, Polaris White, Salsa Red, Liquid Silver, Lunar Grey, Kyanite Blue, or Spectrum Blue. The 2011 XKR Special Edition is shown here in white with piano-black veneers and fitted luggage, including an accessory suitcase that fits where the spare tire might otherwise be. It makes its debut at the Geneva auto show.

The Jaguar XK receives a subtle redesign for 2010

The Jaguar XK receives a subtle redesign for 2010, yet continues to combine Jaguar's new modern design style with traditional luxury car touches like genuine wood and softgrain leather. Available as a coupe or convertible, the XK packs a new 5.0-liter 385-hp V8 engine. The XKR features a new 500-hp 5.0-liter supercharged V8. An all-new six-speed automatic transmission with console mounted rotary shifter and steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters channels all that power to the rear wheels. Standard equipment includes touchscreen navigation, keyless entry with keyless start, a seven-inch video display, Bluetooth, front and rear park assist, and electronic parking brake. The XK receives a redesigned front fascia and LED taillights for 2010. New standard features include a larger, more powerful engine, LED turn-signals incorporated into the exterior mirrors, heated steering wheel, USB jack and 16-way power, ventilated seats.

The 2010 Jaguar XF ranks 5 out of 11 Luxury Large Cars

The 2010 Jaguar XF ranks 5 out of 11 Luxury Large Cars. This ranking is based on our analysis of 31 published reviews and test drives of the Jaguar XF, and our analysis of reliability and safety data. The Jaguar XF boasts a distinctive personality.  An interior filled with high-tech toys, a pair of very powerful engines and a sporty profile distinguish this from more comfort-oriented luxury cars. The 2010 Jaguar XF throws aside the retro-inspired designs Jaguar has pursued for years, opting for an aggressive, coupe-like profile outside and a high-tech ambience inside.  Playful touches -- like a start button that pulses until you push it to ignite the car's engine, and a stainless steel rotary shift dial that rises out of the console and into the driver's hand when the car starts -- set the XF apart from everything else on the market.

2011 Jaguar XJ what a large Jaguar luxury sedan should be

This car isn't kidding. The dramatic new shape speaks of a shift in direction for the XJ nameplate; the driving experience follows up on the promise. It's true that the previous XJ had an aluminum body and roughly the same chassis architecture, so you could argue this is little more than a reskin and a repowering. But in the first few yards, you realize it represents a comprehensive rethink of what a large Jaguar luxury sedan should be.

The XF is a new sedan from Jaguar

The XF is a new sedan from Jaguar aimed at the middle of the luxury car market. The clean styling is a strong break from traditional Jaguar styling cues. This should appeal to those consumers who found recent Jaguar designs to be a bit stodgy. Derived from the S-type, the XF is roughly the same size as the BMW 5-Series, and Mercedes-Benz E-Class, two of its competitors. The interior of the Jaguar is just as new with a modern instrument panel with less wood and more aluminum. Jaguar offers a choice of models with V8 power ranging from the 300-bhp entry-level model to the range topping 510-bhp XFR performance sedan. All are equipped with six-speed automatic transmissions and rear-wheel-drive.
