News of 2011 Porsche 911 Carrera 4

Porsche USA introduced The all-wheel drive Carrera 4 GTS will sit above the recently launched rear-wheel drive Carrera GTS in Porsche’s line-up, and will be available in both Coupe and Cabriolet body styles. Like the Carrera GTS, the 4 GTS will be powered by a high-performance naturally aspirated version of the 3.8-litre flat-six engine from the Carrera S. Power will peak at 300kW (at 7300rpm) while torque is unchanged at 420Nm (at 4400rpm). Acceleration from 0-100km/h takes 4.4 seconds in the Coupe with the seven-speed PDK transmission (4.6 seconds with the six-speed manual). The Cabriolet is two-tenths slower. The manual will push on to a top speed of 302km/h in manual form (300km/h for the sequential ‘box). Fitted with the uprated engine is a sports exhaust system, giving the GTS an unmistakable snarl. The tailpipes are finished in a distinctive black surface. On top of the Carrera GTS, the 4 GTS features Porsche Traction Management – which is designed to offer increased driving stability, traction and handling agility – as well as a limited-slip differential. Porsche says the extra power and added weight has not impacted fuel consumption, with combined cycle figures ranging between 10.5 and 11.2 litres/100km depending on body style and transmission.
